They trying all sorts over here, they did an "online vote" wanting 1 million signatures to end benefits for people who have committed a crime. Very broad and dangerous. So, if you commit ...a crime... any crime after all a crime is a crime..You loose your benefit, then your home and then your children because you are homeless and starving. It could be an incident of domestic violence/ wrongful conviction and all regardless of circumstances, you would loose everything. This ignore the fact a teacher was involved, a social worker who is a degree graduate students and other adults, working, qualified people etc... Who will loose their job say at the very most, face a fine or sentence as relevant to the crime they have committed. Then these people can claim benefits because they were sacked say? Unless we say because they are criminals they cant claim benefit, no what i mean? lol So the question is, is it fair or responsible for our government to be promoting prejudice and discrimination against a specific group of people whether it be benefit recipients or criminals? I mean, the criminal justice system should operate equally to all men and punishement should be in proportion to the crime committed. So what crime do we think is bad enough to render someone not only as unable to claim a benefit due to low income...be unable to get a job becuase of him criminal record, placing them only in a position where they will be made homeless and potentially any children into state care? The only crimes i personally feel are worth such severve punishments thats equates to a death senstence because these people are going to starve on the streets of Britain is those criminals whose crimes are so serious they cause harm to society whereby they would be locked up. Yet these poeple commiting such serious crimes and being locked up have a roof over their head, 3 meals a day and a tv etc because it is rightfully recognised prison is the punishement and their needs should be met as reflected in society
